IronHold is designed to expose a secure, permission-aware MCP (Model Context Protocol) interface so AI assistants and agents — such as Claude, ChatGPT for enterprise, internal copilots, and agent frameworks — can retrieve trusted communications context as a governed tool. AI tools query IronHold instead of your live mailboxes: every retrieval respects the requesting user's or role's permissions, is logged in the audit trail, and traces back to the original preserved messages. No raw mailbox access and no data exports are required. (If MCP is not yet generally available, this is offered as designed-for / roadmap functionality.)

IronHold can preserve email, Teams messages, journaled records, PST/MBOX files, mailbox exports, and legacy archive data, depending on the organization's configuration and import requirements.
PST imports of any size can be handled through our setup wizard. The import process is optimized for large data volumes and supports batch processing of multiple PST files simultaneously. Deduplication and compression are handled automatically during import to optimize storage efficiency — with no additional costs.
The search infrastructure uses distributed indexing that scales horizontally with data volume. A multi-tier caching system and pre-indexed search maintain consistent sub-second query response times regardless of archive size, with negligible performance impact when scaling from 1 million to 100+ million messages.
No. IronHold uses role-based access controls with granular, permission-aware settings that can restrict users to viewing only their own communications. This self-service access model is included in the base storage pricing with no per-user charges.
